This weeks Reggae CD Pick of the Week is "Dennis Brown Sings Gregory Isaacs". Now for those of you that don't know, Dennis Brown is considered The Crown Prince of Reggae and his vocal stylings are second to none. On this cd Dennis Brown sings the great hits originally recorded by another reggae legend Gregory Isaacs. Such hits that Gregory Isaacs originally made famous such as Night Nurse, My Only Lover, Border and many more are all given a unique interpretation by Dennis. Hello! I stumbled across this site and read your review of Dennis Sings Gregory. Fair enough review, but please be a bit more considerate when dismissing the artwork as "cheesy". In my humble opinion it is nothing of the kind but the point is that it nonetheless represents someone's hard and dedicated work and should be given regard as such. Could you have drawn it in a cheesy or any other way? Nice drawing at the top of your page but in comparison I would say it has none of the warmth or character of the D and G drawing, it's just a bit too clever and 'hip'. Just saying. ReplyDeleteFair enough criticism.Agree that it does represent someone's hard work. I'm just saying that some may be turned off by the artwork instead of focusing on the music inside. Peace!
